GOING, GOING by Philip Larkin. (January 1972)
And that will be England gone, The shadows, the meadows, the lanes The guildhalls, the carved choirs. There’ll be books; it will linger on In galleries; but all that remains For us will be concrete and tyres.

Most amazing shop - bought a new wallet and a very nice pencil case. This is a shop not full of bland medico stuff that can be found any where. But an Aladdin’s Cave of wonders.

John Carter
The first of Edgar Rice Burroughs matian books has been made into a movie. I read all the books when I was 16 - they are a bit of a pot boiler but I really enjoyed them. I remember beginning taken by the covers by Michael Whelan http://www.michaelwhelan.com/. It was him that started me on the road to illustration. Some where I have a box of paintings done in his style.

Not a great fan of the Sound of Music but I do like the opening of Apocalypse Now.
